It’s cool to be part of this herd!
People from all over the world will be heading to the fun-filled Golden Shears Sheep & Wool Festival May 22-24 2014. You should, too!
Ireland has scored an international coup with individual competitors and teams from China and Russia now registered to travel and compete at the 16th Golden Shears World Sheep Shearing & Wool Handling Championships, a unique festival of farming and family fun will have 300+ competitors from 30 different countries compete over four days of wooly fun. 6,600 sheep, provided by farmers in Wexford and countrywide, will be specifically treated and prepared for shearing during the Championships!
If you follow The Cat Shepherd and/or Suzanna from Zwartbles Ireland, be sure to go on the weekend, as she’ll be there with her special wool blankets and some of her wonderful photos of the Farm & the animal characters there. I’m also excited to see Wexford artist & maker Roisin Markham’s exhibition From Sheep To Frame. The Golden Shears Festival in Gorey is going to be some fun, and my tip would be to have a county Wexford holiday break and combine Golden Shears with the Wexford Food and Wine Festival on in Wexford town. Sunny Southeast Ireland vacations are tops!
